Not the family. Paying for Betsy doesn’t let anyone in the family hear Mom’s calls: what reaches you is three things and one line on Sunday. Betsy’s team has access to recordings to keep the service running well, and the companies behind the call handle what’s said so she can answer. We never sell anything about her.
Who hears what?
| Who | What they hear | When |
|---|---|---|
| Betsy | Every call | Every day, and whenever Mom calls |
| The family, including whoever pays | Never her calls. Three things she mentions, and one line about her week | The same day for the three; on Sunday for the line |
| Betsy’s team | Has access to recordings | To keep the service running well |
| The companies behind the call | What’s said, so she can answer | On her calls |
Those companies carry the call, turn speech into words, write her replies, make her voice and store recordings. We never sell anything about her, or about you. What Betsy keeps has all of it, in about 300 plain words.
What reaches the family?
Three things, the same day: a fall, an injury or an illness she mentions, including talk of hurting herself; somebody after her money; and anything she asks Betsy to pass along. On Sundays, one line about her week, and only a story she okayed. Betsy passes it on, and she tells Mom when she does: “I’m going to let Sarah know.” What Betsy tells the family goes through them one by one.
Can I listen to her calls?
No, and that is the point. Mom’s calls are hers, and paying for Betsy doesn’t let you hear them. That is why she keeps talking. A mother who thinks her daughter is listening tells a different story about the ladder. What you get is the Sunday text: one line about her week, and only a story she okayed.
Does Mom get a say?
Betsy asks first, on the first call: “I keep a recording of our calls, so I can remember what you tell me. Is that all right with you?” If Mom says no, Betsy keeps only her name, her number and a line about the call. To delete a recording, call 1-855-HI-BETSY from the same phone and ask her, or write to hello@hibetsy.com, and it’s deleted within 30 days. Does Betsy record the calls? has more, and what Betsy is has everything else.
