Betsy is the ElderVoice alternative worth trying first: $2 a day, billed $60 a month, for about ten minutes of real conversation at the hour Mom picks, in the same voice, from the same number, with every call remembered. The other kinds of daily call are press-1 prompts and people you hire by the month.
We make Betsy, so she comes first here. Other services’ facts are from their own sites, checked November 5, 2026.
You may have ElderVoice on Mom’s phone already, or you may still be reading about it. Either way, you’ve decided a computer voice is worth a try. What’s left is which one she’ll pick up for tomorrow.
Betsy (ours): what does she do?
Every day, at the hour Mom picks, Betsy calls from the same local number, in the same voice, and asks about her life. She talks about a third of the time; the rest is Mom’s. She remembers every conversation, so each call starts where the last one ended. Mom can also call her any time at that number, and Betsy knows who it is. There is one plan, and all of that is in it. Betsy is a computer voice, says so on every call, and never asks for money. What Betsy is has the rest.
A call sounds like this.
Hi Margaret, it’s Betsy, the one who isn’t a person. You were going to tell me who ended up with the blue bowl.
My sister. She’s had it since 1968, and she knows it’s mine.
Did you ever ask for it back?
Every Thanksgiving. She puts the potatoes in it and looks right at me.
Oh, that’s wonderful. Same time tomorrow?
Same time tomorrow.
On Sunday you get one text, one line and one story: “Margaret had a good week. Ask her about the blue bowl.” The story is only ever one she okayed. If she tells Betsy about a fall, an illness or someone after her money, you hear the same day, in her own words, and Betsy tells her when she does. Everything else stays hers, because that is why she keeps talking.
The price is $2 a day, billed $60 a month. No device, no setup fee, no contract, no tiers. Your card goes on file before her first call, and nothing is charged until day eight. If the first week doesn’t make Mom’s day, call and say stop before then, and you pay nothing. Say “stop” and it stops, and unused months are refunded.
One voice, one number, one price, and every call remembered.

How do you choose?
Does she get a real conversation, or a keypress?
A press-1 call asks for one key. Betsy asks who ended up with the blue bowl, then waits for the answer. Most of the ten minutes is Mom’s.
Does the voice remember her?
Betsy does: every conversation, with nothing to repeat. Harold’s name, which knee, the drive to Reno. Tomorrow’s call starts where today’s stopped.
Can she keep the phone she has, with nothing to wear or charge?
Yes. Betsy calls a cell, a landline or a flip phone, and on a landline the caller-ID box reads BETSY. There is nothing to install, charge or learn. She answers the phone, which she has done her whole life.
