Betsy is what takes Alexa Together’s place for a family that wants a daily conversation: $2 a day, billed $60 a month. A computer voice calls Mom at the hour she picks, on the phone she has, and remembers every conversation. Amazon says Alexa Together is no longer available (notice dated May 21, 2025).
We make Betsy, so she comes first here. Other services’ facts are from their own sites, checked November 5, 2026.
“Update May 21, 2025: Alexa Together is no longer available.”
Amazon, on its Alexa Together posts
The notice gives no last day of service, and Amazon’s old Alexa Together address now opens Alexa Emergency Assist, a subscription for asking for help. Its page describes no daily call. If what you want is someone talking with Mom every day, that job is open.
Betsy (ours): who talks with Mom now?
Betsy does, every day, at the hour Mom picks, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. her local time. She calls from the same local number, in the same voice, for about ten minutes, and asks about Mom’s life. She remembers every conversation, so each call starts where the last one ended. There is no Echo to set up and no app for her: any phone that rings will do, and there is nothing to install, charge or learn. Mom can call her any time at that number, and Betsy knows who it is. Betsy is a computer voice and says so on every call. What Betsy is has the rest.
A call sounds like this.
Luz, it’s Betsy, the one who isn’t a person. You came from Manila in 1979 with one suitcase. What was in it?
Two dresses, my mother’s rosary and a rice pot.
A rice pot?
I didn’t know if they had rice in Chicago.
Did they?
Not the right kind. I still use that pot.
Oh, that’s wonderful. Same time tomorrow?
Same time tomorrow.
No Echo to set up. Her phone rings, and Betsy remembers.
What does the family hear?
You may be a long way off, which may be why you looked at Alexa Together. You get one text on Sunday, one line and one story: “Luz had a good week. Ask her what was in the suitcase.” If she tells Betsy about a fall, an illness or someone after her money, you hear the same day, in her own words, and Betsy tells her when she does. Everything else stays hers.
What does it cost?
$2 a day, billed $60 a month. No device, no setup fee, no contract, no tiers. Your card goes on file before her first call, and nothing is charged until day eight. If the first week doesn’t make Mom’s day, call and say stop before then, and you pay nothing. Say “stop” and it stops, and unused months are refunded.

How do you choose?
Does she get a real conversation, or a keypress?
Alexa Emergency Assist answers when she asks for help. A press-1 call asks for a key. Betsy calls every day and asks about her: what was in the suitcase, who met her off the plane.
Does the voice remember her?
Betsy remembers every conversation. The rice pot is still in the story next week, and so is Chicago. Mom never has to tell it twice, unless she wants to.
Can she keep the phone she has, with nothing to wear or charge?
Yes, and nobody has to set anything up at her end. No Echo, no app for her, nothing to install, charge or learn. She answers the phone, which she has done her whole life.
