Pick Betsy if…
- You want about ten minutes, at the hour she picks, any time from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. her time.
- You want somebody who remembers every conversation: Harold’s name, which knee, Sarah’s new job.
- You want the same voice from the same local number, forever, saved in her phone as Betsy.
- You want her to talk freely. What she says stays hers, except a fall, an illness or someone after her money, which you hear the same day.
- You want one price with everything inside it, and one story on Sunday that gives you something to ask her.
What does remembering everything sound like?
Like somebody who was listening last Tuesday. AloneAssist’s home page says it remembers her name, asks how she is doing and checks on her pets. Betsy starts from every conversation the two of them have had, and each call starts where the last one ended. A call sounds like this.
Margaret, it’s Betsy. Last week you said Sarah’s new job had her in Denver. Did she get home for your birthday?
She did. You remembered that?
I remember everything. That’s the nice thing about being a computer. What did she bring you?
A coat, three sizes too big. She still thinks I’m the size I was in 1980.
Are you keeping it?
Oh, I’ll wear it to church and tell everyone it’s from Denver.
A talk like that takes time. Betsy has about ten minutes for it, and she is never in a hurry. On Sunday, Sarah gets one line and one story, and what Margaret said about the coat stays right where it is.
She never has to tell a story twice.
What does a minute with each one cost?
Less with Betsy, at the 1 to 3 minutes AloneAssist’s home page gives. These are our sums from the published numbers, on a thirty-day month. Thirty calls of about ten minutes come to about 300 minutes, so $2 a day, billed $60 a month, works out to about 20 cents a minute. AloneAssist’s Solo plan is $19.99 a month. At its stated 1 to 3 minutes a day, that is 30 to 90 minutes a month, or about 22 to 67 cents a minute.
Betsy’s price is the whole list. The memory, her own calls to Betsy at any hour and the Sunday text are all inside it, with no device, no setup fee and no contract. Betsy vs ElderVoice and Betsy vs AllsWell cover two more calls from a computer voice, and what Betsy is has the whole picture.
